In the framework of the EU Mission “Climate Neutral and Smart Cities”, the Centre for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (IN+) is looking for a senior specialist in the following areas:

NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS: ability to analyse the role of nature-based solutions in Portuguese cities to support the EC’s climate neutrality goal; assess and create scenarios for nature-based solutions; quantify abatement costs of GHG emissions; recommend policies to local municipalities related to mid- and long-term implementation of NbS; facilitating capacity-building workshops for local municipalities; stakeholder engagement and external communication. 

 

We are open to receive applications from candidates with the following profiles:
•    Qualifications: MSc degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable Development & Management, or related domains; 
•    Expertise: in climate change mitigation, experience with modelling is a plus;
•    Programming Skills: ability to work with GIS (LCA software is a plus);
•    Language Skills: proficient in Portuguese and English (spoken and written).
 

 

YOUR ROLE

The candidate will be part of the ‘Industrial Ecology and Sustainability Laboratory' group which aims to contribute to sustainable cities through research and knowledge dissemination about decarbonization strategies (e.g. for transport and buildings) and urban metabolism (sustainable resources management). Furthermore, he/she will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, dedicated to climate action and sustainable innovations at local and national level.

The position will be full-time at our offices at IST Alameda (max. 1 day remote), starting in May/June 2024 based on a year contract (with possibility to be extended).
